Gill and I opened the Lancashire office of Promedica24 in 2016 and we soon had to extend our services to Yorkshire as news of our services spread. I was motivated by a personal commitment that everyone should have the choice to live comfortably, in safety and with dignity in their own homes. Moreover, many elderly live alone or have family that may live far and away. These people benefit from having a carer and companion living in to support and offer friendship.
In previous roles I have spent many years working in Africa trying to support the vulnerable faced with the life and death challenges of climate change, extreme weather causing flooding and drought. I am now using these skills, enthusiasm and passion to make a difference to people’s lives in my own region closer to home in Lancashire and Yorkshire.
Dementia and frailty are all issues facing our loved ones and I commit time to support them through my roles as a Dementia Champion and work with the Volunteer Service. Loneliness is a silent curse on our society, and I try to play a small part to overcome it through my work as a Telephone Friend with the Silver Line, a National Charity set up specifically to combat loneliness in the elderly.
In my spare time I enjoy playing golf, walking with the dogs and watching my favorite football team, Manchester United. Though in recent years it has not been so enjoyable!
Together Gill and I make a great team in managing the Promedica24 North Yorkshire and Lancashire office and together with all the Care Management team, care and support staff are truly committed to providing a life enhancing service in a friendly but very efficient way.
Gill has worked all her career as a Civil Servant supporting the public at times when they are very vulnerable and needing help and guidance through the legal system as part of her role with the Ministry of Justice. Her attention to detail and commitment to offer this unique choice of care to as many people as possible, are invaluable in administering the back-office roles of the service.
When not working on the accounts and ensuring all the documentation is all correct and in order, Gill will be seen on her allotment at the weekend preparing to stock up the cupboards with home grown fruit and vegetables. Gill is a passionate animal lover and our two dogs’ benefit from this by going for long walks in the beautiful Lancashire and Yorkshire countryside. Gill’s love of animals has recently seen her convert to veganism. She avoids golf and football with a passion.
Together we make a great team in managing the Promedica24 North Yorkshire and Lancashire office and along with all the Care Management team, care and support staff, we are all are truly committed to providing a life enhancing service in a friendly but very efficient way.
Registered Care Manager
I started as a Care Manager at Promedica24 but recently was proud to be promoted as the Registered Care Manager based at our Northern Office in Lancashire.
Previously I worked with adults with learning difficulties and Mental Health issues. I ran an activities group and organised discos, bingo, nights, karaoke nights and day trips that enabled these vulnerable adults to socialise within the local community.
Besides raising children, I have a large dog to walk and enjoy going to the gym and meeting friends.
